Initial type testing for CE marking

CE-marking is confirmation that a product meets specific European criteria and has been tested in line with the relevant guidelines. The ITT determines the performance of your product.

Mandatory or not

CE marking is already mandatory for many building products. You can verify whether CE marking is required for your product on the NANDO website. All harmonised product standards for building products are published on this website.

The test

In order to qualify for CE marking, a once-only prototype test is used to determine the properties of your product. This is the ITT. Products are tested for aspects relating to health, safety and the environment.

Depending on the product standard, your company must be certified before you may put products with CE marking on the market. For this, an assessment of your Factory Production Control (FPC) system in generally necessary after the required ITT's have been carried out.

SKG-IKOB is ‘Notified Body’

To safeguard expertise and objectivity, these ITTs (or test reports) and FPC-inspections can only be performed by officially recognized test institutes. SKG-IKOB has been recognized by the European Commission as an official ‘Notified Body’ (NoBo 0960).
