Innovations in Safety Culture Ladder products.
As of June 1, 2025, NEN (scheme manager of the Safety Culture Ladder) introduces renewed and accessible products that support organizations in an even more effective way to improve their safety and health culture. This innovation makes the Safety Culture Ladder more applicable to small organizations.
ASA becomes SA (Self Assessment).
The Approved Self Assessment (ASA) expires and gives way to a powerful new product: SA (Self Assessment). Organizations get started independently, without an external audit. SA offers an approachable yet valuable introduction to the SCL- via the familiar web tool, including GAP analysis, behavioral objectives and a formal self-declaration.
SCL Light for small organizations (5 to 50 employees (own employees, including hiring))
A specially tailored program with attention to practical feasibility and behavioral change. More focus on effect and impact. With a mix of internal audits, self-declaration and concrete behavioral objectives. For organizations that demonstrate in year 2 of the audit cycle that the behavioral objectives have been achieved and that improvements are being made with regard to attitude and behavior, the external audit in year 3 is cancelled. To qualify for this SCL product, the organization must have or employ an internal auditor who has attended the NEN training course "Internal Safety Awareness Testing with the Safety Culture Ladder. The internal auditor may also be hired through e.g. a trade association)
Customized SCL Light for larger organizations
The current SCL Light is also undergoing innovations. There will be more emphasis on the effect of efforts instead of paper plans. This will clearly show whether behavior really changes - after all, that's what it's all about. To this end, organizations must formulate objectives in the area of attitude and behavior. In subsequent years, an auditor will assess whether these objectives have been achieved. No worries! We're making it easy for you. We've built this change into the web tool, so you'll be taken through this change step by step.
Why these changes?
Because safety and health culture is about people, behavior and continuous learning.
Not just about checkmarks. The updated products are even more in line with that.
