New test setup burglar resistance at SKG-IKOB

The laboratory of SKG-IKOB Certification now has a new test rig for testing the burglar resistance of facade elements and hardware. Due to the large dimensions of both the test setup and the SKG-IKOB laboratory, testing of large facade elements is possible and heavy elements are no problem.

The new test setup in Geldermalsen is suitable for test elements up to 6000 mm (w) x 4000 mm (h) and developed for tests according to NEN 5096 and EN 1627 to 1630. During testing, SKG-IKOB crawls into the skin of the burglar and tests with tools ranging from screwdrivers and hammers to heavy grinders how long it takes for a product to have a passage opening. The setup is also used in burglary tests on hardware according to NEN 5089 and BRL 3104. Very well known are the SKG stars applied to certified hardware. The number of SKG stars indicates the burglar resistance class for which the hardware is suitable. In addition, various types of impact tests are possible based on standards such as EN 13049, EN 14019 and tests for fall-through safety according to the Dutch Building Decree or EN 1991-1-1/NB.

With the testing of a product for burglar resistance a company convinces its customers that products such as windows and doors meet the requirements of the Dutch Building Decree (NEN 5096) and by the customer. The outcome of the test can also be converted into a SKG-IKOB KOMO certificate. By continuing to develop continuously, SKG-IKOB manages to stay at the top of testing institutes and continues to serve innovative companies in the construction industry optimally.
