Free KOMO specifications available for specifiers

KOMO, the expert on certified products and processes in the construction and installation sector, is making a catalog of specification specifications available to specifiers free of charge. This KOMO specification catalog integrates with the Open Specification Format (OSF) of the software suppliers Cube, Ibis, DUNCAN and De Twee Snoeken.

With this step, KOMO is responding to the needs of both specifiers and the construction and installation market, where the demand for objective, independently verified (product) information remains invariably high.

KOMO has now prepared more than 300 specifications based on its BRLs for products and processes. The specifications were developed in cooperation with experts from the certifying bodies and then updated and approved by KOMO. From each individual specification it is possible to link directly to the relevant BRL and to the relevant certificate holders. When these certificate holders have drawn up specifications and details for their specific (composite) products, these can be accessed directly within OSF and made available to the market. Specifications for all KOMO product and process BRLs will be drawn up in the near future. At the next update already, the number of specifications will be significantly expanded. The KOMO website indicates the latest version of the KOMO specifications catalog and the changes made in that release. The specifications can be downloaded from November 1: http://www.openspecificaties.nl. The specifications may be edited and saved by producers and specifiers for their own use is the OSF (but obviously not in the KOMO specification catalog itself).

Background: Open Specification Format (OSF)

The Open Specification Format or OSF (see for example: http://www.hetnationaalbimplatform.nl/actueel/nieuws/nieuw-initiatief-voor-een-openspecificatie-formaat/) has been developed and introduced by the software suppliers that market software for preparing specifications for construction projects. To this end, the relevant suppliers cooperate with suppliers of product information (NBD, BouwConnect and ZeeBoer) and with KOMO in an open file format for the exchange of specification specifications. The Open Specification Format supports both the STABU system and other systematics. The result is a database that is freely accessible to the market with up-to-date specifications and therefore with all the information needed to specify buildings and provide objectively verified information for this purpose.
