Certificates and ETAs

Construction products and building systems must comply with binding regulations. Certificates and ETAs are declarations of quality and technical assessments based on one-off comprehensive investigations. They give customers confidence that products and building systems are suitable for use in construction. The certificates and ETAs issued by SKG-IKOB are often based on tests carried out in our accredited laboratory.

Facade elements and related products

Being able to demonstrate the quality of building products and building systems is becoming increasingly important with the Quality Assurance Act. Attestation for facade elements such as windows, doors, frames, shutters, skylights and skylights shows under what conditions building products and building systems can achieve the stated performance and simplifies their demonstrability.

Is there no assessment guideline (BRL) or European Assessment Document (EAD) for your product (group) available yet? Then please contact us via the contact form.
We can then work with you to see if and how we can meet your needs.

What is an attestation?

An attest is proof that the building product or system in its application can comply with Dutch building regulations. The conditions in the attest describe the way the building product or building system must be processed and/or assembled.

With an attestation examination, SKG-IKOB assesses the performance of the building product or building system. If necessary, we carry out calculations and/or tests. With this examination, we determine the performance of the product or system and under which conditions it can deliver the performance. At least every five years we assess whether the statements in the attestation are still correct.

What is an ETA?

The European Commission has determined for a large number of construction products that, based on a harmonized product standard (hEN), they must be marketed with CE marking. Is there no harmonized product standard (hEN) available for your product? Then you can use a European Assessment Document (EAD) and the corresponding European Technical Assessment (ETA) to have the most important properties of the product laid down in an ETA by SKG-IKOB. If an ETA has been issued for your product, then you may provide your product with CE marking. Drafting an ETA is not legally required, but may contribute to the acceptance of your product.

The procedure for obtaining an ETA (European Technical Assessment) is through EOTA (European Organization for Technical Assessment), SKG-IKOB is a member of it. We issue ETAs on a number of product areas and products.

What is an ETA? Your complete guide to SKG IKOB

The European Commission has established for several construction products that, based on a harmonized product standard (hEN), they must be marketed with CE marking. But what if no harmonized product standard (hEN) is available for your product? In such cases, SKG-IKOB offers the possibility of using a European Assessment Document (EAD) and the corresponding European Technical Assessment (ETA) to establish the essential characteristics of the product.

What is an ETA and why is it essential?

Definition: An ETA, or European Technical Assessment, is a document that evaluates the performance of a construction product in relation to its essential characteristics.
Importance: An ETA allows a manufacturer to demonstrate the performance of its product and provide the product with CE marking. Although preparing an ETA is not required by law, it can help gain market acceptance of your product.

How do you obtain an ETA from SKG IKOB?

The process for obtaining an ETA (European Technical Assessment) goes through EOTA (European Organization for Technical Assessment). SKG-IKOB is a proud member of EOTA and we issue ETAs for various product categories and specific products.

Frequently asked questions about ETA:

What does ETA mean?

European Technical Assessment, an evaluation of the performance of a construction product.

What is the difference between an ETA and a hEN?

An hEN is a harmonized product standard, while an ETA is an assessment of the performance of a product for which no hEN is available.

How can I obtain an ETA for my product from SKG IKOB?
