How does EN 16034 affect your business?

Under great interest, the 1st information meeting for suppliers and manufacturers of fire-resistant windows and/or doors took place on January 20 at SKG IKOB in Geldermalsen:

"What are the implications of EN 16034 for fire and smoke rated windows and doors for your business?"

As an expert on testing and certification of fire and smoke resistant windows and doors, SKG-IKOB answered questions such as: From when is EN 16034 legally required? What actions should I take as a company to comply with EN 16034? What will be the role of KOMO attestations and KOMO certificates on fire-resistant windows and doors, after the introduction of EN 16034?

The transition period of the coexistence period for EN 16034 is set to September 1, 2016. The coexistence period lasts 3 years and runs until September 1, 2019. This means that CE marking on fire and smoke resistant windows and doors will be possible on a voluntary basis as of September 1, 2016.

Before manufacturers are authorized to apply CE marking and issue a declaration of performance (DoP), these companies must demonstrate compliance with the requirements set out in EN 16034. This must be demonstrated by means of a Certificate of constancy of performance issued by a Notified Body such as SKG-IKOB Certification.

The 2nd meeting will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
