Unique new test wall for post-insulation
On September 1, SKG-IKOB's new test wall for post-insulation in Geldermalsen was opened by Mr. R. van Boxtel, chairman of VENIN (Vereniging van Erkende Na-Isolatiebedrijven in Nederland). The wall is intended to both inspect products and machinery and to train the executive staff of post-insulation companies.
The test wall is specially designed to test mineral wool for application as a post-insulation material and is unique in the Netherlands. It is the only permanent test rig for post-insulation material in the Netherlands. Multiple drill holes have been made in the test wall so that the filling can be tested with different drilling patterns. By using different fitting pieces, the diameter of the filling hole is also variable. The cavity width is also variably adjustable so that all common cavity widths can be simulated. It is checked whether the cavity is filled homogeneously and whether the "packing" of the mineral wool is correct. This is done with a specially developed pressure gauge inserted at critical points.
With a positive test result, a system (material, machine settings, drilling pattern and drilling diameter) of mineral wool is established. During control inspections of the KOMO process certificate on construction, these variables are checked.
In addition, the test wall will be used in the future to test new innovations. Also, the wall serves to train professionals and conduct practical exams.
VENIN wholeheartedly supports the initiative and has sealed it by formally opening the test wall. The industry association promotes the research and quality assurance of post-insulation and makes an important contribution to the development of the guidelines for KOMO certification.
The opening was made possible with the help of Insulation Company Pluimers and Knauf Insulation.
