Issuance of first Roof and Facade Safety Mark certificates for processors
Dumebo-DWS, the branch group of processors of roof and facade systems of Koninklijke Metaalunie, in cooperation with borger PlanGarant and certifying body SKG Ikob, has presented the Hallmark Roof and Facadeborg. Keurmerk Dak- en Gevelborg makes it possible for processors of roof and facade material to demonstrate the quality achieved in the field of roof and facade construction. This ties in very well with the Building Quality Assurance Act (Wkb), which is expected to take effect January 1, 2023.
The Wkb aims to improve the quality and supervision of (re)construction. The client gains greater certainty that the building work at least meets the requirements of the Building Code and the builder gains broader liability. For example, the builder also becomes responsible for defects that were not noticed during delivery. Unless the builder proves that these defects are not attributable to him. With this, the importance of building a good file and demonstrable realized quality is great.
If a construction process is certified, the bondsman employed by the client can reduce his inspections of whether the structure meets the requirements of the Building Code. This reduces the assurance costs for the client. In addition, the contractor is relieved of the burden of proving the quality achieved when doing business with a roof and facade specialist with the Roof and Facade Guarantee Seal of Approval.
Testing of certificate holders is performed by SKG Ikob, an independent certifying body. Checks are carried out at both business and construction sites.
The most important principle of the Hallmark is the realization of good and sound work that demonstrably meets the requirements of the Buildings Decree and any private law requirements. The Quality Guideline for Metal Facades and Roofs, which has been known in the market for many years, is used as a basis for this, in which aesthetic requirements are included in addition to technical requirements. Also from the perspective of the borer, a risk inventory has been drawn up for the roofs and facades from which the essential inspection points have been drawn up.
