Expansion of the scope of SKG-IKOB's branch approvals
The Building Quality Assurance Act (Wkb) requires the market to make it even more transparent and demonstrable that at least the requirements of the Building Code are met. A quality assurance company checks this on behalf of the client. This is done using an assurance instrument at building level. This law gives contractors more responsibility for the quality delivered. The new system requires that participants in the construction process deliver demonstrable quality.
Several industries see this as a new opportunity! Over the past year they have worked together with certification body SKG-IKOB to develop the specific industry hallmark that must be in line with the Wkb. Here it is important that the criteria for obtaining and maintaining the hallmark are well established. This is described in publicly published quality requirements and an accompanying regulation. These also specify the frequency with which the holders of the seal of approval are inspected annually.
Both the glass industry (Vakgroep GLAS) and the industry for metal facade and roof systems (Dumebo DWS) have used the experience and expertise of SKG-IKOB in this process. This will continue to be used during the performance of the annual inspections.
Hallmark GlasKeur
GlasKeur is a seal of approval specifically intended for the entire glass industry. All glass companies (both members and non-members of Vakgroep GLAS) can apply for and obtain it. The hallmark was initially set up for glass installers, but will be expanded to include requirements for manufacturers and wholesalers. As a result, the quality of the entire chain will eventually be covered by the hallmark. Holders of the seal of approval will be assessed on requirements for professional competence, safety, the environment and all parts of the installation process that have a relationship with meeting the requirements of the Building Code.
Recording the quality achieved by the glass installer is also part of the hallmark. This makes the connection to the Wkb. SKG-IKOB also tests the holders for private requirements and therefore GlasKeur goes further than the Building Decree. Among other things, NEN 3569 is applied as standard by the holders of GlasKeur.
Hallmark Roof and Facade Assurance
Dumebo DWS, the industry group of processors of roof and facade systems of Koninklijke Metaalunie. Within this branch, we have been working for several years in accordance with the Metal Facades and Roofs Quality Guideline. The requirements from this quality guideline are therefore the basis for the Roof and Facade Quality Mark. The quality assurance companies apply a risk inventory approach. Here, requirements have been selected for the various roof and wall systems that the holder of the Dak- en Gevelborg quality mark must comply with.
In addition to the quality guideline, requirements for the expertise and training of personnel and safety during assembly work on the construction site are also part of the seal of approval. All holders are audited several times a year by SKG-IKOB Certification. This involves an independent assessment of both the business processes at the office and the assembly processes of roof and wall systems at the construction site.
