STABU and KOMO join forces for construction and installation sector

The STABU Foundation and the KOMO Foundation are joining forces in view of the system change under the Building Quality Assurance Act (Wkb). By working closely together, both bodies want to offer added value to the construction and installation sector. KOMO's BRLs will be linked to the STABU Specification System Construction-wide as soon as possible.

KOMO and STABU have given further shape and content to their combined strength through a declaration of intent.

Now that Minister Blok has sent the WkB to the Lower House and the bill is expected to be passed, a transition to private rather than public quality assurance is imminent. KOMO and STABU expect to play a leading role in this by facilitating specification preparers, architects, builders and private quality assurance companies with a specification system and quality assurance toolbox that can count on broad market acceptance.

Steering committee with stakeholders

In order to flesh out the cooperation between STABU and KOMO and the services to the market in the new system, a steering committee has now been started. This steering committee will also ensure careful coordination with the market and users. In addition to KOMO and STABU, it includes Bouwend Nederland, the association Bond Nederlandse Bestekdeskundigen (BNB), the association Fabrikanten Bestek Service (FBS) and NEN. This has created a market-wide coalition, whose mission is to relieve the burden on construction parties and guarantee building quality.

Phasing

The cooperation will be implemented in a number of phases: in the short term, the KOMO catalog will be linked to Bouwbreed through the so-called "reference specification". In a second phase, intelligence will be added. This is a software adaptation, to be carried out mainly at the software houses.
