Press Release: Scoop! SKG-IKOB awards very first KOMO innovation certificate to Infinity Repair

SKG-IKOB awarded the very first KOMO innovation certificate to Infinity Repair on September 3. It is the crowning achievement for a new, innovative total concept the company developed for the renovation of deteriorated wooden window frames.

"Revolutionary, circular, highly innovative and sustainable in every way," said Bastiaan Benz, director of SKG-IKOB Certification, who presented the certificate to Infinity Repair director Nico Heijmen.

The festive event took place at the offices of housing corporation Woonstad Rotterdam, in the presence of representatives of the partners involved Accsys (the producer of Accoya® wood), Aedes, Kloet Onderhoud, Sigma Coatings and Stichting KOMO.

New certificate encourages building innovations

"SKG-IKOB, together with KOMO, has taken the initiative to develop the KOMO innovation certificate. This was created specifically to stimulate building innovations," explains SKG-IKOB director Bastiaan Benz. "With it, we offer companies the opportunity to offer highly innovative products or building processes under KOMO certification quickly and without the competition 'looking in' - and thus with the guarantee that the quality has been tested by independent experts and that relevant laws and regulations are complied with. A KOMO innovation certificate is valid for three years and can then result in a regular KOMO certificate." In addition to Infinity Repair's technical innovation, the certification scheme is also innovative. "The assessment guideline contains an integral approach. From training and qualification of craftsmen, the technical execution of recording and assembly to after sales. In which SKG-IKOB can look along with every step (digitally) in the process."

Wooden window frames can last 30 years longer

Thanks to Infinity Repair's total concept, wooden window frames can last 30 years longer. The concept provides for the replacement of affected parts, making the entire window frame replacement unnecessary. This results in a major material saving, reduced CO2 emissions and a significantly extended window frame life. Every part element of Infinity Repair is equipped with a chip, making each repair traceable. Together with Sigma Coatings, Accsys and the processor of the system (a property maintenance or painting company), Infinity offers 30 years of budget security on the maintenance and management of repaired window frames, with SKG-IKOB as quality assurance body.
