New KOMO certificates for hydrophobizing
Last year, the new BRL 1154 was accepted. Based on this guideline, materials for hydrophobizing facades are KOMO-certified. The guideline is suitable for both creams and liquid products based on water or hydrocarbons. Prior to certification, products are first examined by TCKI in Velp.
The suitability examination consists of various tests. Tests include the aging of the material under the influence of heat and moisture. After these tests, the waterproofing performance must still be satisfactory. The products are also tested for water vapor permeability. A unique fingerprint of each product is made on the basis of infrared spectrometry.
After the products are certified, SKG-IKOB will start certifying facade renovation companies for the application of hydrophobes. The scheme is part of BRL 2826, the KOMO certificate for masonry, pointing and renovation anchors. Existing certificate holders therefore easily expand their scope. Because the general requirements overlap with those of BRL 2110, post-insulation companies can also easily obtain the certificate.
