Mirjam Bart looks back on the finals of 'NK Masonry' 2016
The finals of the 64th NK Masonry took place in Emmen from April 12 to 15, 2016, at Holdert Residential Center, part of the Treant Care Group. Residential community center Holdert is located at an AA location in the center of Emmen, near Wildlands Adventure Zoo adventure park.
Mirjam Bart was part of the jury on behalf of SKG-IKOB and looks back on a successful final in Emmen: "It was a challenge to give a good assessment and above all it was a lot of fun to do."
KNB organized the final in cooperation with BouwMensen Drenthe North-West Overijssel. By organizing this event, BouwMensen DNWO draws attention to construction training centers: "without construction no progress, we live better, work nicer and travel faster thanks to the efforts of good construction people."
On Friday afternoon, April 15, the awards ceremony took place in Holdert Residential Center. Commissioner of the King in Drenthe, Jacques Tichelaar, presented the highest award, the Silver Trowel, to the winner of the 64th National Bricklaying Championship, Sander Janssen from Someren. Second was Stefan Mak from Westwoud and the third prize was for Tygo Smit from Alkmaar.
The jury consisted of: Huub Joosten, Mirjam Bart, Chris van der Woude and Jo Bogers . In judging the work, the technique of bricklaying came first. Furthermore, the jury assesses matters such as full and clean work, regularity of joints, flat and tight work, special masonry and the approach and care of the workplace. Masonry techniques also involve the incorporation of other materials, such as natural stone elements. The masons used a technique that is most commonly used in new construction in recent years, the so-called strike-through method.
