First pilot KOMO Instrument Quality Assurance together with Janssen de Jong Group launched

The first pilot with the KOMO Instrument for Quality Assurance (KIK) is underway. A large project of Hercuton, part of Janssen de Jong Groep, is being executed according to the system of the Wet op de Kwaliteitsborging (Wkb) in de Bouw. This means: private quality assurance, in which the quality controller uses the instrument that seamlessly connects to the Wkb in construction: KIK of KOMO.

The KOMO Instrument for Quality Assurance (KIK) was developed at the request of and in close cooperation with 25 industry associations around the construction industry. It will therefore be able to count on very broad market acceptance and already enables construction according to the new law, which was recently submitted to Parliament. KIK is suitable for all consequence classes referred to in that law: consequence classes 1,2 and 3. Hercuton's construction project concerns consequence class 2.

Private quality assurance tool

The pilot launched today concerns a 30,000m2 Distribution Center, commissioned by the European division of a global investor. The project will be realized in Dordrecht. For Janssen de Jong, the project fits into its strategy for the years up to and including 2017: growth, cooperation and a top fit organization. For KOMO, this pilot means an important step in the practical implementation of KIK in future building practice, in which the private quality assurance instrument plays a crucial role.

Test in appealing project

Ton Jans, director of KOMO: "The KOMO Risk Model, which is part of KIK, makes our tools suitable for all consequence classes and enables the builder to base their assurance strategies on it. And to justify these strategies to the independent quality assurance agency. Thanks in part to Hercuton, we are able to test this tool, which the market rightly expects a lot from, in an appealing project."

Allianz Group and Seconed

In addition to KOMO and Janssen de Jong Group, the strategic partners in this project are insurer Allianz Group and Seconed. Seconed is an independent, certified party in construction that focuses on testing, inspection, delivery and auditing. Seconed is a so-called T.I.S., a Technical Inspection Service and part of the SECO Group, with more than 80 years of expertise.
