Industry associations encourage 'Building on CSR'
At the Noordelijke Vereniging voor de Burgerlijke- en Utiliteitsbouw (NVBU) and MKB INFRA the first SKG-IKOB certificates 'Building on CSR' have been awarded to two of their members. Together with the Vereniging fabrieken van Hang- en Sluitwerk (VHS) they are the frontrunners in the MKB within the construction industry when it comes to recognition and stimulation of CSR.
A company with this certificate operates in a fundamentally socially responsible manner. The certificate indicates which themes within corporate social responsibility the company scores extra on.
SKG-IKOB Certification has developed the recognition scheme 'Building on CSR' for the construction sector and supplying industry and provides low-threshold opportunities for companies to give substance to corporate social responsibility (CSR). The recognition scheme is a growth model. Companies can determine their own social ambitions. The scheme is made up of five development phases. In combination with the five theme modules, Governance and Management, People and Work, Customer, Environment and Society, a company can choose where its own ambitions lie and where it wants to grow. Phase one is theme-wide mandatory. A company chooses which stage it wants to achieve for each of the themes and which growth objectives it wants to achieve. A company's previous recognitions and certificates (such as ISO/Environment/VCA) count towards this.
SKG-IKOB Certification works together with branch organizations which, in turn, want to encourage member companies to engage in corporate social responsibility. In cooperation with the relevant branch organization, the recognition scheme 'Building on CSR' is tailored to a branch. Sector-specific aspects are then taken into account and a minimum level of quality expected of the participants is also established.
